I just wanted to 'Hijack' my own journal this week to try and push a recent drawing I completed, and tell you a little bit about why I drew it, and the causes behind it.
Don't worry its not too heavy, and it wont cost anyone a single penny, cent, rupee or Renminbi!!!
Those who have been following (or 'Watching') me for the past few months, will have noticed that I have drawn a number of Child drawings, normally ones that portray a 'sad' or a thoughtful child. There is nothing sinister or any second meaning to this, I just found that I like to draw this type of image and I feel that they offer more to the viewer than 'just another celebrity drawing' (although I will continue to draw celebs as well as sci-fi/superhero characters on occasion).
Anything that gets us to think about those less fortunate than ourselves is worthy of doing, even if those thoughts quickly pass as we get on with our busy live's. This is why I decided that I should try and 'give' a little back - or 'put my money where my mouth is', rather than just use these images to gain favour, comments etc. I thought I would donate some money every time this drawing is added to someone's favourite folder.
The reference I used for this drawing, featured as the main screen shot for an initiative called 'Generation 3:16' [link] on investigation - the charity itself is called 'Little Ones Ministries' [link] who provide "food and Hope" to children in Mexico, Nicaragua and the USA. Originally I was just going to ask for their permission to use the photograph of this adorable child, then I thought perhaps I could do some more, and why not try and raise some money for charity?
So I have decided that I will donate $1 for the 'favourites' I receive for the drawing 'Little Ones' through DA before January 1st 2013 - as I have said it wont cost you a cent, but if you did want to contribute or help with the charity then all you need to do is add it to your favourites, feature it in your journal, group of wherever - each time you do this and it receives a 'fave' I will add one more $1 to the charity (TO BE CLEAR - IT WILL NOT COST YOU ANYTHING!)
So please if you haven't already added this to your favourites - please do, if you have a blog or journal, see if you can squeeze a small feature to advertise it, and if you run a group please see if you can add it into your regular features to push its popularity. I know this is really cheeky of me, and perhaps I will receive some negative feedback - but I would genuinely love to raise as much money as possible for this charity, and rather than just send them a cheque, this also helps increase the charities profile and perhaps makes us all think about those less fortunate - even if it is for just a couple of seconds, thanks for reading
Remember its the drawing that needs to be added to your favourites - not this journal entry

Update April 2016
First of all lets get the apologies out of the way - sorry for not being a good 'deviant' - my time on DA this year has been woefully poor, it would be easy to blame this on apathy and a sense that DA seems to have lost its way over the past 6-12 months, but it is probably more to do with life getting in the way of a hobby, and slowly turing that hobby into a career!
An update on my last two journals; firstly the open gallery (Taking Online - Offline!) this is still something I want to do - I have had to put it back a bit due to issues over gallery availability, which is still an issue but I can see an opening during this summer and hope to
Pick your favourite Drawings to win 2000 points
At this time of the year I like to hold a contest to find out what you liked in the world of Pencil/Graphite/Charcoal drawings on DA in 2015
However the contest has a little bit of a twist in that the voters get the prizes rather than the artists! Why? Well the artists already get lots of praise, faves, watchers and comments - so this contest gives their loyal and faithful supporters a chance to win some points :)
Over the years this has proven to be really popular with the competition receiving literally 1.000's of views and comments - so I hope that everyone who reads this will have a go - after all it is just a bit of fun and anyone coul
1000 point giveaway!!!
It looks like a significant milestone on my DA Account is about to be reached with Page Views Hitting 150,000!!! So it feels appropriate that in return I offer something back to all those great watchers and those who view, comment and fave my work. For that reason this competition is only open to those people who watch me. (To be clear - only people who have been watching me before the 19th October 2015)
So to win the 1000 points all you need to do is take a screen grab or photo of my profile statistics when It reaches 150,000 Pageviews and post it as a comment underneath this journal or as a note to me directly - its as simple as that :D
